Drawing In R-Mode Blog:
For those who don't know, when drawing in "R-Mode" it's easier not to be thinking about what you are going to draw but instead to be more focused on the lines, shapes, and angles. On this piece the part that shows more improvement based on how I draw my lines and angles would have to be the tail and most of the head in my opinion. The part that was the most difficult would have to be the legs because I had trouble trying to find out when one of the legs was rather too short, too long, or too wide. The most easiest part was the horse's tail. This skill will help me become a better artist because it's slowly but surely helping me improve on knowing when the lines that I'm trying to draw are drawn bad or good or even need a few little adjustments.
Perceiving Edges Skills Blog:
(Just want to point out that the hand on the right was not completed). For this piece the part that shows the most amount of improvement would have to be, in my opinion, how the 3rd and 4th finger was drawn out on the paper to the left. The part that was the most difficult was trying to draw your hand onto the sheet to the left while keeping your hand as still as possible. The easiest part was drawing the wrinkles or lines on the palm of your hand. This will help me become a better artist by having me make sure every line I draw is the way it should be.
Project 1: Brainstorming Blog:
Nothing really inspires me about this topic, I just thought that the topic I was going for would be fun and difficult at the same time. Honestly my inspiration for this came from nowhere. Other artists approached my topic thinking it would be fun to see what and how my final piece would turn out. The only things that are conveyed through this particular artwork would be my imagination and creativity because personally I think the way I chose to draw my topic was in a creative way and I tend to use most of my imagination when the final piece comes. The only connection that this artwork contains that made me choose this topic was because I had done this topic for another class a while ago and I seemed to enjoy it. My decision making was shaped based on the style of how I was planning where I wanted what and if it would fit. My goal for this piece is to use my imagination and creativity as much as possible to the point where people would look at my artwork and say "wow."
Project 1: Organizing and Developing Blog:
To create a more powerful composition for my artwork I didn't really tend to use the elements and principles of design other than trying to add more boldness and shade to my work. My techniques will add meaning based on how the inside will look when the whole product is finished. The meaning that I'm tending to get across is that everyone sees the world differently. I experimented on my work by making multiple little sketches of the inside of the eye.
Project 1: Begin To Create Blog:
Right now, the things that are going well with my piece is how it is outlined. What isn't really working is the eyelashes because I can't really get them to look "real." The problem of my artwork that I have ran into is the eyelashes. I plan on solving it by just trying my best to make them look at least good enough. So far I hadn't have to make changes to my work because everything is coming out okay so far.
Project 1: Revise And Refine Blog:
Based on the feedback that I had received, the changes that I had made for my artwork was to add more eyelashes and more of a curve to them. Once I did that I felt as if I had to make them longer but at the same time, it looked okay. The most successful thing of this piece is how the shape of the eye came out to be.
Project 1: Polish And Present Blog:
By creating this piece I grew more as an artist because I started to feel connections towards my artwork. If I could restart making this piece, the thing I would do differently would be to re-size the eye. I would have to say that for this piece I believe that I did reach my goals that I had intended to achieve. I chose to present my artwork through paper and pencil because I would like if I was to create it a different way it wouldn't turn out the way I wanted it to be. My biggest risk was to change the inside of the eye of what I first wanted it to be. I believe that what I had did was a success because the way I had drawn it and the way I added the new idea to the piece seemed to connect.
Project 2: Brainstorming Blog:
My topic for this project was to include drawings that were going to have a lot of shapes when completed. Nothing had inspired me the way of how I chose my topic. I just wanted to think of drawings that show I was only focusing on the negative spaces than the actual object of what I was going to draw. My point of view and imagination are conveyed through my artwork by having my artwork show that only the outlines of the shapes in my work were going to be shown.
Project 2: Organizing And Developing Blog
For this piece the way I had used the elements and principles of design to create a more powerful message was by making the negatives spaces come out based on all the shapes.
Project 2: Begin To Create Blog:
What is going well with my piece right now is how all the shapes are being placed to form the tree. The only thing that isn't working for me at the moment is trying to draw out the small negative spaces the picture shows. So far I had not come across any problems so far. Based on my original plan, I had not made any changes whatsoever.
Project 2: Revise And Refine Blog:
Based on the feedback that I had received, the changes that I had made for my artwork was making the outlines for each shape darker so each shape can pop out more. The most successful thing about my piece right now is how the shapes are nicely coming together which is making my piece look like if its drawn from shapes just stacked on top of each other and moved around so you can actually see the negative spaces.
Project 2: Polish And Present Blog:
From creating this piece the most I have grew as an artist was by making my connections to my work stronger so that it can actually mean something deeply. If I was to start over on my project, the things I would do differently is to add more negative shapes to the drawing. Based on this piece, I would say that I did meet my goals. The way I chose to present my artwork was through pencil and paper because I felt that if I was to do it this way, it would look much more better. The biggest risk that I took for this project was outlining the shapes. It turned out to be a success because it makes the artwork look so much better.
Materials And Skills #1:
The part that shows my improvement the most in this drawing, would be ceiling and the wall. The most difficult part about this would be the door because I had to follow the direction of each line with my pencil but since the lines were skinny, it was a bit hard because I wanted them to look exact. The most easiest part would be the ceiling because all I had to do was add two more lines two create four boxes, but in this drawing you could only see three. This practice/skill would help me become a better artist if I ever decide to make art based on angles and directions.
Materials And Skills #2:
The part that shows me improving the most would be the 5-min drawing that's on the far right because I feel like I had nailed it. The part that was the most difficult would be the angles of the body (mainly the stomach). The easitest would be the legs because it's easier for me to just sketch which way they are pointed/payed out, then add an outline for it. This skill wil help me become a better artist whenever I get a crazy idea for doing art based on a person/people. Hopefully this skill will make ideas like that easier to draw.
Project 3: Brainstorming And Investigate:
What had inspired me about this topic was the fact that I wanted to create a drawing that combined drawing sighting proportions and angles in a somewhat distorted type of way. I had got my inspiration from an artwork from an artist named M.C. Escher. The artwork was an image that had a lot of angels that were distorted inside a sphere, while being looked at from an angle. My individuality, point of view, imagination, and creativity are conveyed through my artwork because I tried to create a piece that meant something, while at the same time, had a little bit of a twist to it by adding somewhat "imagination" to the work. At the moment of brainstorming I had no connections of my daily life/history. My interpretation of styles changed my decision making because I wanted to create a distorted type of image. As stated, my goal for this piece is to create an image that shows angles and having them distorted so it can still look like a sight.
Project 3: Organize And Develop:
For this piece I did use some elements to try to create a more powerful composition. My use of techniques adds meaning because for this I tried to combine many things that would fit the piece the together to create a message that is trying to get across. I took risk with elements by drawing sketches of buildings that show them being distorted and also sketching buildings, trying to add depth, to make it look like if the piece is being shown at a specific location.
Project 3: Begin To Create:
What is going well in my piece right now is how the buildings on the side have the distorted feeling added to them. What isn't working is how the circle wasn't a perfect circle but it's too late to change that. Besides the circle, I haven't ran into any other problems so far. I did have to make changes compared to my original plan because at first the drawing wasn't coming well together.
Project 3: Revise And Refine:
Based on the feedback I had received I didn't change anything because the feedback had nothing about changing anything. Feedback was just positive saying that everything is fine and okay how it is. What is successful about my piece is how the sidewalks look and how the street light changes everything in the drawing.
Project 3: Polish And Present:
From creating this piece I grow the most as an artist my practicing my angles in this. The only bad angles located in this drawing are the lines located in some building because I had forgotten to add detail until the last minute. If I could start all over again on this project the things I would do differently are to make the circle more perfect and to add more detail in the buildings since that was a "last second" thing. For this piece, I could say that I barely reached my goal, but at the same time I feel like I could of improved this piece way more. I chose to present my artwork on paper and pencil because nothing else would of seemed to be better. My biggest risk for this project was adding the little lines on the building to try to add detail at the last second. It was a success but a failure at the same time because it shows more angles but since it was done in a hurry, some angles don't look correct.
Project 4: Brainstorming And Investigate:
For this project, my first idea was to draw out a planet in the galaxy just out of oil pastels. As shown in the photo above, it wasn't really working out for me so I had to change my idea. Then started to search up images of animals because that was what my second idea was. I then started to do multiple sketches of animals. They weren't really that good since I still wanted to use the pastels. From there I had decided that I wasn't going to use pastels to draw out my image, but maybe using them for a background wouldn't be that bad of an idea.
Project 4: Organize And Develop:
Before I started this sketch, I had sketched and written multiple different ideas of how I was going to do the final piece out on a separate piece of paper. One thing that I was having trouble trying to find out was how big I wanted to draw these penguins. In the end I decided that I was going to draw them somewhat big, I was going to make the drawings out of pencil, and I was going to color the background with pastels. For this piece I have used the principles of design of shape and value to create a more powerful composition. I had experimented with the principles of art by figuring out how I was going to shade the penguins and add color to the background.v
Project 4: Begin To Create:
As of right now the things that are going well in my piece is the shapes of the penguins. One thing that really isn't working are the size of the penguins. If they would of been a bit more shorter, more ideas of the background would have, without a doubt, of came to me. Other than that I haven't ran into any other problems. Based on my original plan, I had to make changes because I didn't know how I was going to draw out my final piece.
Project 4: Revise And Refine:
Based on the little feedback I had received I didn't change anything to my final piece. The most successful thing about my piece right now is how the shades of black on the penguins are turning out and how they look overall.
Project 4: Polish And Present:
By creating this piece, I grew as an artist by trying to create a piece with different materials. If i could start again the things I would differently are: decrease the size of the penguins, and change the background still using pastels. For this piece, in my opinion, I would have to say that I didn't meet my goals since there's nothing really added to this piece that makes it stand out. I chose to present my artwork through different types of pencils and colored oil pastels because I like to create art, or most of my projects, with pencil and I wanted to use pastels because I thought it would of improved the piece if I would of used them in a creative way. My biggest risk was keeping the background plain with only a color added to it because it makes the piece look not very creative. I would have to say that this piece turned out to be a failure because there is so many things that I could of done to make the piece stand out.
